“Mastering ideas, not keystrokes”

It’s been 15 years since Prensky’s revolutionary metaphor of digital immigrants and natives entered our minds. 15 years!

In 2016 “immigrants” and “natives” gained another meaning for us in Europe as well, and the digital aspect of it seems a bit odd, if not inappropriate at all, with the visitors and residents perhaps more in place.

Anyway, in the first week we have all been practising being visitors, migrating and manoeuvring through different services, accounts and environments.

It was also comforting to find out that visitors/residents concept it is by no means a dichotomy but a space (which suits ME much better). No boxing needed, hopefully so one can happily float over time between the both.
